Excellent Reducing Diet

This would be excellent for those on a reducing diet because of the inedible messes it serves up, which reminded me of my mother's best efforts before the advent of slow cookers, and all of us were certainly thin. If the recipes in this cookbook don't put you off slow cooker cooking for sometime to come, you're a hardier soul than my husband and I. The author without fail recommends canned meat products, on the BOTTOM of the slow cooker, a variety of canned items on top, and cooking the whole business to death for hours. Literally, a recipe for disaster and failed nutrition. We thought there was something wrong with us and that slow cooker cooking was always this bad, wondered how anybody could stand it. Then after a hiatus of several years, we came across some truly wonderful slow cooker recipes from other sources. TWO THUMBS DOWN.

Love this cookbook!

I was given this cookbook as a gift. I had always thought slow cookers were only used for soups and stews. This book showed me that I could use the slow cooker for so much more! I have three picky-eaters and a full-time job, and the recipes are easy, inexpensive, and delicious! My children will actually eat this food! Our favorite recipes include barbeque chicken, turkey and dressing, Mexican Goulash, and cherry upside down cake. I highly recommend this cookbook and have already bought copies for my friends and family.

Wow! I just received this cookbook (Dawn Hall's Slow Cooker cookbook) about a month ago. I have made at least 20 recipes already! I have NEVER used so many recipes from one book before in my life. We can't wait for meal time around here to see what's next. We used to eat out all the time. It was really breaking our budget. Now, we are thrilled to stay put and eat at home. Also, the author's story in the front of the book is so inspirational. I can't wait to purchase this book for Christmas presents for all my family and friends. I especially love the desserts, meatloaf recipe, and the pickle juice chicken!! Awesome book!!! Thanks to author, Dawn Hall, for her wonderful book and inspirational story. God Bless!!

Teach how /what to cook in a slow cooker.

I teach nutrition classes. This cookbook has a variety of recipes and techniques. I hadn't ever "baked" a cake in my slow cooker before...the Black Forest Upside-Down Cake is really good! There are several other recipes that I've tried & then had classes try. My biggest concern is with the amount of sodium. Some of the products used "by name brands" are not found in our area. I haven't had any problems with substituting those products. I'm sending one of these books to a Granddaughter and will use the others as incentive gifts for my cooking classes.

The Slow Cooker Cookbook is full of excellent recipes that are delicious and easy to make. Dawn's extra tips are personal and handy in the kitchen preparation and clean-up. I am never at a loss for what to make my family when I use her cookbooks. I love the dietary information at the bottom of each recipe--this is invaluable for people counting calories (or points on Weight Watchers).
